Passport (valid for at least six months after arrival in Costa Rica)
Driver’s license if you want to rent a car.
Cash: American dollars are accepted almost everywhere. We do not recommend euros as they are more difficult to change and there are additional fees. As the Exchange rate flucuates everyday in Costa Rica we recommend exchanging American dollars for Colones before reaching the country or at your arrival to Juan Santamaria International Airport. The airport is a safe place for buying ad exchanging currency.
Credit card: Both Visa or MasterCard cards are accepted in most shops.
It is important to keep copies of all your documents and cards either at home or in your hotel here in Costa Rica in case of an emergency.
