Ideal for my trip

The Essentials

Passport (valid for at least six months after arrival in Costa Rica)

Driver’s license if you want to rent a car.

Cash: American dollars are accepted almost everywhere. We do not recommend euros as they are more difficult to change and there are additional fees. As the Exchange rate flucuates everyday in Costa Rica we recommend exchanging American dollars for Colones before reaching the country or at your arrival to Juan Santamaria International Airport. The airport is a safe place for buying ad exchanging currency.

Credit card: Both Visa or MasterCard cards are accepted in most shops.

It is important to keep copies of all your documents and cards either at home or in your hotel here in Costa Rica in case of an emergency.

What to bring in your luggage?

Clothing: Short or long skirts & short or long trousers

– Long sleeved shirts for sun protection

-Bathing suit

-Women’s tops, shirts and / or blouses

-Shoes & socks, hiking boots are best suited for walks and tours if it is the rainy season, sneakers and sandals for going to the beach.

Personal articles:

Sun protection lotion

Personal medicines

-Insect Repellent. If you have very sensitive skin, try to get a product with citronella.

A FLASHLIGHT- it’s an essential!

-A flashlight per person with an additional red light if you want to see turtles (May – December) as well as a regular light.

– Alarm (For any trips that have an early start!)

-Cap or hat

-Camera (With a good battery and charger 110 wts)

-Waterproof bags to keep your things dry (especially if you want to do water activities and for the rainy season)
